My dear Kindred Spirit,
Let’s cut right to it: your lack of boundaries is draining your bank account.
You’re not “too nice.”
You’re afraid.
Afraid that saying no makes you a bad person, a flaky friend, or an ungrateful weirdo who doesn’t deserve success.
Here’s the truth:
You’re allowed to protect your time.
You’re allowed to charge enough to support your lifestyle and build your bank account.
You’re allowed to have firm policies.
Boundaries don’t block connection. They create clarity.
They’re not walls; they’re filters, so your time is spent on the people who are right for you.
Boundaries are badass.
But, here’s the bad news: Only if you uphold them. So many women business owners don’t honor their own policies!
Setting boundaries is easy; standing by them is much harder. Especially when there is a human in front of you whom you like and whom you want to please (or are afraid to piss off).
My advice is this: Don’t set a policy (aka boundary) you’re not willing to honor.
Too many of us create policies and hope/pray that others will follow them without question. But the reality is that humans like to test. We like to see what we can get away with. We like to see if you really mean what you say. And if you don’t? You lose credibility.

FAQ: “What if I can’t follow through?”
You don’t need to feel “ready.” You just need to be willing. My coaching isn’t about pressure or performative productivity; it’s about deep shifts and sustainable momentum. If that’s what you want, I’ve got you. And I mean that. In my premium coaching package, you’ll have Voxer access to me Monday - Friday; so if you face a tricky situation, or feel like you’re about to cave re: a boundary, you’ll send me a quick Voice msg, and I will respond. You won’t be alone and that makes all the difference.
I began working with Laura because I had an idea for a coaching business and I wanted support and accountability for the money side of things. I had a previous coaching business ten years ago and it was a frustrating experience; although I worked hard and did everything various coaches told me to do, I never made much money. I never felt like my business had momentum.
Laura has a very practical perspective about women and money. She’s well-versed in the many reasons women struggle with making and having money. Perhaps more importantly, she met me exactly where I was without judgment, listened intently, and her suggestions and advice were always spot on.
I also appreciate Laura’s quiet humor and wit.
After working with Laura for six months I’ve made a lot of concrete progress with my business. I started writing a weekly newsletter, am taking regular action to grow my subscription list, have created several offers, and [gasp] people are saying “yes” to my offers and paying me!
My relationship with money has also subtly shifted. Previously money has felt abstract and unreal for me. Now I feel a quiet sense of pride that “I earned this money by offering something people value.” It’s nice to feel so much more grounded around earning and having money.
Laura is not a taskmaster (which was fine with me). I experienced her as a trusted advisor who always had my back and genuinely cared about what I wanted to create. She’s also a lovely, heart-centered human being and I greatly appreciate having her in my life. ~Judy Murdoch
